Introduction

The two-days Inca Trail is the most suitable choice for those who really want to know how beautiful and wonderful the conjuntion from architecture and nature can be, experieciencing on the arriving to Machu Picchu through the famous Inca Trail, which is a route specially planned for those trekkers who haven't enough time or physical strength to do another longest trek.

Itinerary:

Day 1 : Cusco / Wiñay wayna / aguas calientes

We take the early morning Backpacker train from Cusco through the picturesque Sacred Valley to Km-104, where we enter the trail. Our hike continues gently upward for approximately four hours until we reach the beautifully situated Inca complex of Winay Wayna, where we stop to eat a nutritious and plentiful bag lunch. Sub-tropical flora and fauna surround us as we continue 2 hours to the Sun Gate, from where we see Machu Picchu. We walk down past the majestic ruins, then take the bus to Aguas Calientes to spend a relaxing night in a comfortable hostel.

Day 2 : Aguas calientes / Machupicchu / Cusco

We will take the first bus from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu and arrive at Machu Picchu. We will enjoy a professionally guided 2.5-hour visit of the great Machu Picchu sanctuary-city. There is also an optional hike for the more energetic and adventurous people in the group, to the top of Huaynapicchu Mountain - the pyramid-shaped peak that overlooks Machu Picchu. After our visit, we will take the bus back down to Aguas Calientes. In the afternoon we will take the train back to Cusco.

Note: People who want to visit Huayna Picchu must let us know as soon as they can, because according to new rules, there is a limit of people (400) per day that can climb it.

What you need to bring/carry: 

  1. Backpack 
  2. Rain jacket or poncho (plastic ponchos can be purchased in Cusco for a few dollars) 
  3. Hat or cap to protect you from the sun 
  4. Sun block (sun protection cream 
  5. Insect repellent 
  6. Camera, plenty of film and spare batteries 
  7. Swimsuit (if you plan on visiting the hot springs at Aguas Calientes after the trek) 
  8. You also need to bring your original passport on the trail.

 Note: The Inca Trail is closed on February 2010.
